Who is College Works Painting?
College Works Painting (CWP) is one of the largest residential painting companies ($30 million+ annual revenue) in the United States. CWP paints 10,000+ homes and employs nearly 3,000 college students each year to run house painting businesses.
What problem did they have?
In 2012, Google made several drastic changes to their algorithm. Six review sites popped up on the first page of Google search results related to the CWP brand. Each one had a rating of 2-stars or below, which created a huge issue for CWP sales reps who interacted with customers in the field.
How did we help them solve it?
We created a game plan in which each local state was required to earn five authentic reviews from their employees on the employee-based review sites (Glassdoor, Indeed, Rate Internships, etc.). We created a “fine and reward” system for the locations who met their review quota and for those who did not. We also helped CWP earn authentic reviews from their customers.
We also focused on finding press outlets like Fox, ABC, CBS, etc. to further legitimize CWP’s online reputation. The credibility of these sites helped build 3rd party credibility and pushed down negative sites giving them trouble.
In a 6 month period, CWP achieved a 4-star rating in all of their review sites outside of Yelp within a 6 month period. CWP also earned recognition from media outlets like Inc.com, Fortune.com the Stevie Awards and Houzz.com. Most importantly, CWP experienced a 29.9% growth in revenue from our efforts (an increase from $26.1 million in annual revenue to $33.9 million in annual revenue).
How improving web presence increases revenue
We manage multiple lead generation campaigns for CWP—everything from traditional print advertising to digital advertising. We even helped them start an outbound call center, so they could utilize their client database more effectively to grow their business. Each one of these campaigns improved significantly when their online reputation improved.
